At that time it will have probably morphed to something like VILE NEW YORKERS SPIT ON MARC ANTHONY FROM THE UPPER DECK AS HE SINGS WITH TEARS RUNNING DOWN HIS FACE AT THE ALL STAR GAME.

It is hard to kill something on the internet where it is out there forever. This wont have the longevity of Obama's birth certificate, which shall never die, but I say this one has legs because of the appeal to the NY hater. They liked us for a while after 9-11, maybe they felt bad for hating us all those years, but that has long passed. They hate us again.
The OP said that NYers were calling in complaining about it to a local network. I just can't imagine any NYer (even any bigots) giving a damn that he is of PR descent. I would think that these type of comments usually come from people that never or rarely come across Puerto Ricans (or any other Hispanic or Asian for that matter) on an ordinary basis.

I seriously doubt anyone in NYC had any objections. First of all, we all know he is from NYC, secondly, this city has so much going on, I doubt something so trivial would even catch our radar. lolol. How ridiculous.

Im pretty sure it wasn't New Yorkers (maybe a few), on the news they just showed tweets who came from people all across the nation.

New Yorkers of all races know Puerto Ricans, they've been coming here since the '40s. They've mixed with Italians, the Irish, Dominicans, Blacks, Guyanese. I really doubt that a New Yorker would confuse a Puerto Rican with a Mexican.

I thought it was an article depicting racist tweets, like someone did a search for racist tweets about him singing the anthem and came up with about 10 offensive tweets, I dont understand why someone would make an article of that and why it would be a story? The tweeters were nobodies.. people giving this story any air are race baiting.

Still, some comments are just plain stupid.
