Do you like the Vignelli or the current map better? (trains, station)

I saw the Vignelli map for the first time today and was so surprised by how amazing it looked. The map today is more geographically accurate but is really hard to understand in a tourist's perspective while the Vignelli map which he did a remake of a few years ago is more easy to understand and has each different line separated with 45 degree angles. So which one do you prefer?

I actually really like the new one. The old one looks extremely cluttered in comparison.

I prefer the current one. Better geographic clues, less clutter with things like parallel lines.

I preferred the old one when they made the changeover and I still do. The new one has too much SMOOSHING in Manhattan, the Queensborough area, and Borough Hall area.

Geographical relevance seems totally irrelevant. After all who cares whether the distance between station is proportional or whether the bends in the line are shown? You are in a deep hole, or above the City, and only getting from one station to another is important.

I prefer the standard map but, interestingly enough, IMO the Vignelli map easier illustrates what parts of the city are underserved by the subway.

The Vignelli map is better for showing express trains and where individual lines begin and end. It’s great for newbies and tourists who say the “green line” but don’t understand the differences between the 4, 5 and 6 Trains.
