I am under the impression that there used to be ¨Jewish¨ neighborhoods in NYC (perhaps Brooklyn?) Is there such a thing anymore? If so, where might that be?

Lots of areas all over brooklyn have a very concentrated Jewish population for Orthodox and Has-ids almost like being in a different country. The hot spots are Borough Park, Williamsburg, Crown Heights and Bensonhurst.

I'd add in some areas of Midwood and extending into parts of Marine Park as well.
