are there any good real mexican food restaurants in NY
what i mean by real mexican food is mexican ,not puerto rican ,cuban,el salvador,panamanian etc,etc,etc thank you what about bobby flays mesa grill

Of course there are. However most of the Mexicans living in New York are from Puebla. So the restaurants around here specialize in that type of food. Personally I have a preference for Northern Mexican or Tex-Mex style food. It is hard to find good versions of either of these styles around here.
As a side note, New York is probably one of the few places where Mexican food is combined with Japanese food. In a lot of neighborhoods Chinese people operate these Sushi-Taco joints that sell both sushi and tacos. Its really a weird combination, and the food is not very authentic, but its cheap and generally tastes good.

Coming from Los Angeles, I wouldn't say 'si'. You guys don't have the water necessary for good shells.

there's a good mexican restaurant on greenwich ave and jane street in the village i forgot the name tho. the food is great and the frozen drinks are good and cheap.

The Mexican food has gotten better in the last 15 years, but I have yet to go to any Mexican restaurant in NYC that can be called truly great.
As much as I detest LA, I do miss the best mole that I've had outside of Oaxaca.
