I disagree, the Staten Island, NJ, and LI conservatives seem just as hardcore to me, just less religious. And I would call the conservatives of the NYC metro libertarian. For example: they tend to be strong supporters of stop and frisk, which is not by any means a libertarian policy.

As for Italians, Joe Machin represents deep red West Virginia and he's Italian. I don't think conservatives have anything against Italians or Catholics anymore.
