How is the area. Particularly how is it walking to and from the nearest subway stop at around 10 pm-ish?

I live on 145th. I have never had any problems regardless of time of day outside of the typical NYC commotion.

Are you even aware that the closet train station is one block away at 145th and St. Nicholas?

Yes. I am aware that it's one block away but want to know how is the subway station itself and the block at night. Just because it's one block away doesn't mean much.

Yes. I always do before I post and oddly enough just one thread came up and the title was "crips in the hood" but mentioned various other neighborhoods in Harlem.

There's a police station pretty much literally on top of the subway stop.

Four shootings this summer around 145th and St. Nicholas - that I know about. There are lots of "incidents" in central Harlem that do not quite make the news.
I remember that at least one of them was between teenagers, the victim died and left three children.
I wondered how that was possible.
June ?

There is also on at 135th and FDB and it doesn't seem to help much.

There was somebody talking about the problems in his building on 145th, right there.
People loitering, blocking the door open and leaving it all night, obviously selling or using drugs.
St. Nicholas is never good.
There are also the quality-of-life issues.
