Look at the statistics for Rapid City vs. NYC - I would MUCH rather raise my children in NYC! We're not comparing a small town with NYC, we're comparing a smaller city with NYC. There is a large enough population in Rapid City to determine a crime index.

I would raise my children in a HEARTBEAT in NYC rather than a smaller city like Cleveland.

It's simple statistics. You should learn about crime statistics if you wish to be a cop.

You can't compare the absolute worst part of one city to an entire other city to obtain a crime index.

Yes, you can. Both are pretty equal in terms of population.

No - you cannot do it that way to obtain a crime index, or you are intentionally skewing the results. You cannot take the absolute worst part of one CITY and compare it to another WHOLE city.

I'm not going to try to explain how statistics work any further.

I know how statistics work. But earlier I said to compare RC's worst part to NYC's worst part, and NYC will be worse.

No. You said compare all of Soundview to all of Rapid City. That is not a sound statistical comparison to make.

How do you know RC's worst part will be worse? You'd have to have in-depth knowledge of Rapid City. What block is the worst block in Rapid City? What are the demographics of that block?

I can tell you right now, a city like Detroit will definitely have a worse part to it as compared to Soundview. There are PLENTY of cities with worse areas. Soundview is not the end-all of bad areas. I'd rather go to Soundview than parts of Newark and Camden, NJ.

Same here. Those New Jersey ones are way too scary to even venture around.

Well, I'm saying it now. Compare the worst part of RC to NYC's worst. And, actually, Detroit compared to Soundveiw is about right. The crime rates are just about the same, but murder rates in Soundview are higher.

Show me the crime information for Soundview. I seriously doubt murder rates in Soundview are higher than in Detroit.

EDIT - Are you really 17 years old and from Scarsdale? Then how do you know ANYTHING about Soundview or Detroit? How much time have you spent in Soundview? How did you see all of this supposed violence if you're 17 from Scarsdale? I'm very curious.
