Nothing will beat NYC in the early 70's- later 90's. Musically and Culture and freedom and cheaper rents made NYC even more famous then was. Now its all "is it safe, is it safe" nonsense moving in here. Its cleaner/family friendlier and expensive for some people thats normal and expected BUT at the cost of losing so much energy that people once dedicated to the arts does not make it worth it, IMO.

I mean, it does suck comparatively to past decades in many ways. However, it is astronomically safer. You're not getting robbed randomly for crack money these days. So there is that.

Although we are also one of the biggest targets for terrorism in the world. So that kinda sucks.
