What 3rd world city would you compare NYC to?

Well, neither do I, or I wouldn't be on here at all. I do understand complaining about stuff; I'm sure I do it all the time about small things like the rudeness of people who think it's ok to eat full meals in subway cars. I just like to think that if a situation were black and white like yours appears to be, and I needed to take action to solve my problem, I wouldn't need to come on a message board to find empathy and solace. But that's just me and everyone is different. Good luck with your move.

I am open to conversing with you, but I have a feeling an argument is right around the corner.

Is your question simply for conversation, perhaps with different views and opinions, or are you ready to e-fight?

If you're ready to e-fight, I won't partake.

been a resident of northern LI for over 10 yrs. Slowly all the old people in my 4 block radius is dying off...literally. The new people are all younger homeowners. Half of younger residents I know for a fact came were from manhattan. I am no longer the youngest person in the area

I was just curious. I'm not looking to fight, but will continue to respond with my opinion even if it differs from yours.

Although some areas have been gentrified in recent years, I believe some areas resemble third or perhaps second world areas.

> Bushwick
> Jamaica
> South Bronx
> Elmhurst
> Jackson Heights
> part of Flushing (which is a VERY large neighborhood)
> Brownsville
> Red Hook
> and many other places I've visited or actually worked in for years.

Every big city will have its run down areas that resemble 3rd world countries. There are places like Brownsville to serve as a catchbasin for the destitutle.

What does that have to do with the discussion?

It was not a question with bad intent. I am 34 years old and have a hard time believing that every major metropolitan area in America had third world dungeons prior to the early 1970's or so. Hence why I wouldn't mind picking your brain.
