I'm thinking it's something to do with a NYC Ferry Line, but as much as I've searched on Google, I'm getting nothing. If you know a place (other than here) where I can find out what it is, please let me know. A girlfriend from Arkansas (!) was clearing out her recently deceased Dad's things and happened upon this.

That reminds me of the tags they used to have at skating rinks and pools. There were baskets you put your shoes and stuff in and they gave you an elastic wristband with a numbered metal tag on it that you had to turn in to get your stuff back.

You may be looking up the wrong Manhattan. There is a Manhattan in Kansas too.

I imagine it used to be attached to a time clock key.

As for the name, might refer to the Long Island City and Manhattan Beach railroad.
