I think consumers should be free to choose what they like. Bodegas are classic, like you say, and convenient because well, they're convenience stores

There's always going to be a market for them, but there's no good reason to stonewall walmart's efforts to open stores. If people don't want them, they won't shop there and the store will close. Seems pretty simple to me

7-11 in Glendale went out of business in July. Delis & bodegas doing well here.

+1. the prices are always terrible for most things and often the food is expired. they basically have convenience going for them

Every bodega had credit available with no credit check. Those Ricans were ahead of their times. You can just walk out the store and yell" apuntalo" and the item was yours. I miss those days.

Neither. Wal-Marts take up too much space and would put a lot of local guys out of work.

I'd rather have Quickchek/Wawa/Sheetz-style convenience store chains. A step or two above a 7-Eleven, and a million times better than your typical bodega.
