I've recently moved to NY, however, about 6 months ago I was here on a visit and got a speeding ticket while I still lived in Seattle. I paid the ticket and thought I was done with it, until I just received a Driver Responsibility Assessment sent to my Seattle address and forwarded here.

Turned out to be a very expensive ticket, and has all taken place on my Seattle drivers license as I haven't yet gotten one in this state.

My question is whether the 'points' I didn't actually get as a NY licensed driver will actually be on my new NY drivers license when I get one.

dmv points don't "transfer" to another state in almost all cases

its possible insurance may penalize you. I personally wouldn't tell your little infraction.

Actually, I meant will they transfer 'to' my NY license when I apply for one even though I received the ticket while a licensed driver in Washington State.

Disgusting revenue generation. It sickens me that such a horrific thing could occur in the United States of America.

they could transfer if within 18 months of the violation. so youd have about a year left before the points fall off

No.

Years ago I piled up some parking tickets I didn't bother to pay. Well even after my husband told me they were getting closer to our neighborhood to boot cars I still didn't pay the tickets. My car ended up being towed. I paid the tickets, tow, and impoundment. Years later when I moved out of state NYC sent me a notice saying the tickets were never paid. Thank God I saved that receipt after years. I kept the receipt after moving back here but NY's traffic violation department hadn't contacted me again. I even went to the department with receipt in hand and was told that records were erased after 7 or 10 years, so they hard no records.

OP try to get your receipt to show payment and give a copy to the right department.

And no, NY state doesn't observe or honor other state's restrictions (just read the driver's license form when you fill it out). You should be fine.

Generates revenue, yes. Not a big deal because its on the backs of those who speed. Obey the law and you have no problem.

Who cares about speeding tickets in Russia when you can just stage an accident claiming you got ran over by a car then get paid later.lol

Insurance is non existent there, the reason they put the cameras in the car for proof.
