I'm not sure how you can charge to take a picture of something in the open space? These guys are idiots though. Just a bunch of street thugs trying to cash in.
I was just making a statement showing how hypocritical and simple most of society is. You would have spent 20-40 to go the museum to view the exhibit (making the rich richer) but you want to step foot on peoples block and not even chip in $5 each to see the exhibit -- even though you spent $60-$100 to get here in a cab.. each way.
Uh, when you drop $20 at a museum [$40????? When was the last time you went to an art museum? And $100 by cab? Where do you think they're coming from, Albany?] that entrance doesn't entitle you to see just one work of art. The Met alone has thousands of priceless pieces. Plus you are paying for the infrastructure--building upkeep, security guard wages, etc. Demanding $20 to see just one piece, in a public venue, on a public canvas no less, is...well, ridiculous. In addition any kind of artist who chooses a venue like a sidewalk or a wall knows that--they choose it knowing they won't get any money for it. I know this because I've produced many outdoor plays, in parks around the city--I choose that venue knowing I can't charge admission for it. I can't imagine the artist is happy knowing you tried to make his/her work of art all about you.
This is just silly opportunism. Please don't try to make this out to be some kind of grand statement of principle. You just wanted to make a quick buck.
they don't like to see a brother not making
money and hate to see a brother trying to
make some money, and hate even more to
see a brother make any money.

Not only that, but I doubt these street museum curators even own the wall it's written on.
Okay, I'm at a loss for this whole hoopla, someone please inform me on what this whole "Banksy" thing is all about? Why are they charging people? Who or what is Banksy? I really don't know anything and I'm getting annoyed about this whole thing. What are they trying to protect?
