I wouldn't say he's killing it. He simply announced his 'residency' and went about it. If anything, I would say its the various media catching on and subsequently all the bandwagoners that suddenly or (temporarily) like 'graffiti' or street art. But hey, it raises his profile and the status of the medium.. and that's what I'd want if it was me pulling these stunts. In my opinion, its one of the few interesting events happening in the city right now. I'd like him to throw something up on the staircase wall of Van Dyke projects here in Brownsville, it'd be interesting to see what the turn out would be for that one.
