Just wanted to mention the movie Inequality For All which I think may have some special relevance for NYC, both in terms of the extremes of economic inequality here, and because it was the home stomping ground of the Occupy movement. (I was just reminded of it by the thread on eliminating rent controls, with one person being very nonchalant as to whether rent was affordable or not.)

Very good - and entertaining - new documentary currently playing in at least two theaters that I know of - the Angelika and Lincoln Plaza.

Inequality for All | A documentary film about income inequality, public policy, and economics and features professor Robert Reich.

It was excellent. Too bad the people who need to watch it, won't.

Exactly. People are such sad little creatures. The hate what they are too lazy to achieve. I pick up garbage for God's sake, but I learned to save and live below my means for awhile. Now my wife and I own income property, we have alittle getaway house upstate, 2 nice cars in the driveway and we live comfortable and happy. Was it hard? Of course. Do I bust my a** everyday in the
street in all kinds of weather? Yes, and I love my job, it provides for our family. Nothing is going to just come to you, you have to go out and get it. I'm supposed to hate millionaires and billionaires, for what exactly? God bless them. This class warfare bullsh*t has really come to a head the past few years. What the fools don't realize is that their so called leaders are fueling this while being rich elites themselves. Divide and conquer is the plan, and you dumbasses have swallowed it hook, line and sinker. My advice to you is, don't worry what everybody else is doing. Start worrying about yourself and take care of your own sh*t.

There are 3 kinds of people - those who make things happen, those who watch things happen, and those who wonder what the f*ck just happened. It's not that complicated. An old Roman quote to live by "it is better to live one day as a lion, then a thousand as a lamb" most of the people I see out there are nothing but little lambs. Unfortunately for you, slaughter is just around the corner.

This is a documentary for and on behalf of the middle class. So the middle class are losers now?
