The last one I discovered was Perry's Coffee Shop on the 500 block of E 161st St in the Bronx. The food and service are excellent, and they have an immaculately clean bathroom.
It is easy to miss. I have business in this area, regularly, but did'n t discover it till about a month ago.
Kyedong Fried Chicken. Northern Blvd, Flushing Queens, The front of the business is tiny and you can miss it walking by. They have a soy garlic fried whole chicken that is some of the best I have tasted, The sides are Korean but with fries that have just the right crunch.
Man, you guys gotta specify the area. Those two places are nearly an hour away from my apartment in East Village, Manhattan!
Anyways, I'll let you guys know a good one - East Village Thai restaurant (on 7th street between 2nd and 3rd ave). At night, you won't get a table (or have to wait for it).. there's about 3-4 seats in the place, but it's good!
Venture out to Roosevelt Avenue in Queens sometime, some of the greatest mom and pop resturants, Thai, Indian, Dominican, Columbian, Phillipino, mexican, even a few Indonesian. It is a lot of choices, also some good food carts.
Here's another favorite of mine - the Rainbow Diner at Pelham Parkway and White Plains Road, where the 2/5 trains stop.
I had a burger there the other day and commented to the owner, I gather, how good it was. He spoke with real pride about how they used the best meat, hand formed patties, etc. They also have some great homemade potato salad.
Fiama in Bayside. Easy to miss as this is along 43rd St. off east of Bell Blvd. and close to the municipal parking lot. Great brick oven pizzas, appetizers and draft beer selection that includes Peroni.

Follow-up - The correct name of the place is Fiamma 41, near Donovan's of Bayside.

Yup, Roosevelt ave from Sunnyside all the way to Flushing. You'll find it all.
74th Street in Jackson Heights gets the rep as the spot for Indian food in Queens, but there's also a growing stretch of Bengali restaurants (I think -- the food is Indian-style but it's all halal) on Hillside Avenue in Jamaica around the 169th Street stop. I'm in that area for work every so often and always stop there for lunch. There's one place in particular (can't remember the name) that looks like a nondescript cafeteria from the outside but has delicious, inexpensive dishes -- last time I was there I paid something like $10 for appetizer, entree and bread.
