According to the NY Times, the NYPD and other police departments are investigating the knockout game. The knockout game is a game in which the thugs try to knock the person out with one punch.

I wonder if media reports will actually spread this. And the game was nothing more than an isolated incidents until now.

Not really. The media started reporting on it because it was happening more and more.

This is a really scary thing because there is no way to protect yourself from this. They are targeting old, young, male, female, etc.

Then what about Charles Bronson?

Arm the citizens, disarm the outlaws and we’ll see an improvement. As they say, an armed society is a polite society

It's no longer an isolated incident when there were 7 possible attacks in one neighborhood here in NYC
from one of the article I read, not to mention attacks from other cities. The media reports may well be
spreading this game because of the copycat syndrome by other thugs in the short run. But ignoring them
as kids play will only make it worse at later time if the game gets popular by itself in time and spread like
wild fire among teens.

When more and more innocent people get hurt or killed by this "game", there will be a push back of
vigilantes start taking justice into their own hands. And then you throw in the race factors, it's going to be
a riot in the making if we learn from past history. This "game" is potentially a lot more destructive to race
relations in the city than people think if not handle properly by the law enforcement.

Please keep in mind that this is not a "game" even if the perpetrators are treating it as such.

These incidents are attacks on other people for amusement. And as I said in availableusername's original post, let's start calling this activity what it really is: knockout assault or knockout attack.
