My favorite is Katz Deli in lower Manhattan on Houston. How does Jay & Lloyd's deli compare with Katz Deli ???
It's cheaper than Katz's but honestly cannot remember which sandwich is better. Jay's doesn't have the tourists which is nice. I like the atmosphere better in Jay and Lloyds. BTW Anthony Bourdain was there for his final show in Brooklyn.

I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Bourdain has eaten in a few places in Manhattan that have been overrated and overpriced.
Best jewish deli food can be purchased at SAHADIS on Atlantic Ave. Brooklyn. I used to make a trip from manhattan every month but they raised there prices to equal manhattan prices more or less so I stopped going.
Also check out the deli two blocks west of Katz on houston st. The place sells knishes and all types of jewish food. Stay on the same side of the street as Katzs Deli and walk to blocks. You will see it.
any such places left in Manhattan? Wolfs on 57th and 6th is gone, there was a cool deli on 6th near 56th(like the Carnegie but smaller) in the late 90's but that's gone
Orloffs on B'way and 66th closed
almost 20 yrs ago i remember one on Lexington and 52nd. does anybody know the name and if it's still there
also one on Madison and 38th. name and still there?
the ones on 7th Ave in the 50's don't really count (one is called Maxies i think) they are too touristy
is the 2nd Ave deli still there? another place called Ratners or was that in Queens?
