So I randomly decided to drive to Brooklyn and explore these past 2 weekends. I live in Western CT (Danbury) and just plugged a random Brooklyn bar into my GPS. Both times, I was led through thi bridge (in either Yonkers or Bronx) that was $7.50 to go in, and $7.50 to leave.
Is there anyway for someone in Western CT to drive to Brooklyn without going a toll road or tunnel or bridge?
If you want to go to Brooklyn via the Brooklyn Bridge: Take 84W to 684S, stay on the road at White Plains to continue on the Hutchinson River Parkway. Follow the Hutch to the Cross Westchester Expressway, follow the exit toward the Cross County Pwy West/George Washington Bridge. Exit the Cross County Pwy to I-87 South (Maj Deegan Expressway). You will exit on to Central Avenue, and the Deegan entrance is on the left. Follow the Deegan to the South Bronx, exit 3, for the 3rd Avenue Bridge. Follow the signs for the FDR South, crossing into Brooklyn at the Brooklyn Bridge.
If you want to go to Brooklyn via Queens: Follow the above, but exit the FDR at E53rd to take the 59th Street Bridge to Queens. You will then be on Queens Boulevard, which can offer access to the BQE, without having to cross at the Brooklyn Bridge to get to an address in Brooklyn.

he can also exit the Deegan at 230th street and cross over the Broadway Bridge, stay left to 10th avenue and enter the HRD at Dyckman St. or the Univ Hts Bridge...but i guess these routes are more for locals who know the area
