How is this area by the L train?

Highland Boulevard is not by the L train. The closest train to it is the J/Z lines.

Agent said you can cut through the cemetery and the L is right on the other side.

Geez...who wants to walk through a cemetary as part of their commute...new low for City-Data...can you even do that? How are you so sure the agent is telling the truth on this? It's not like its a park.

Evergreen? That's Bushwick. I lived on Stockholm Street ten years ago, before the hipsters arrived, and never had a serious problem, but I wouldn't live in the part of Bushwick where the L meets the cemetery no matter how cheap the rent was. I wouldn't want to "cut through" Evergreen after dark, either.

Actually, if he's talking about Highland Blvd, that's 100% Cypress Hills.

In any case, if this was an actual serious post (which considering how similar it is to all those recent posts, likely isn't), the best way to get to Manhattan from that area is probably just to take the Q56 bus (along Jamaica Avenue) to Broadway Junction, and then you can take whatever train you want from there. (A/C/J/L/Z)

Walking from Highland Blvd to Bushwick-Aberdeen involves walking through a desolate, pedestrian-unfriendly area and crossing over a highway. (Even if it was a smart idea to cut through the cemetery, I'm pretty sure there's no path through there anyway)

True. Invoking the L train threw me off, but I stand by those stations (Wilson, Bushwick-Aberdeen) representing the very worst part of Bushwick, which is a dubious honor to say the least. What do you mean by recent posts? I haven't been here for awhile.

Definitely. And having to pass through those areas to get to those stations is another reason to just take the Q56 to Broadway Junction instead of using the Bushwick/Aberdeen station.

In any case, you know how people talk about all the real estate hype, and how people are moving to crummy areas of Brooklyn because realtors say it's the next "up-and-coming" area with a short commute and all that? Well, these two threads were started by somebody who fit that stereotype down to the tee. Obviously, those aren't legit posters. This thread was likely started by the same poster under a different username (except this time, he actually picked a decent area).

Highland BLVD is in my neighborhood of Cypress Hills, Brooklyn. That particular area of Cypress Hills is rather quiet and unique. The area of Cypress Hills North of Jamaica Ave is rather small, it feels like it is miles away from the business of the Junction but it's actually just a few blocks away. Homes sitting on top of hills, some interesting mixed housing units and rows. It makes the area rather unique. It can feel rather lonely if you are walking along the wall into Bushwick.

It appears people are looking into Cypress Hills lately.

I've seen a few white-hipsters around Wilson-Bushwich/Aberdeen stations. Yes, that part of Bushwick appears to be the grittiest, scariest in comparison to the areas west of Myrtle. But they are in the area as of late. I've seen a few very late hours on Cooper St.

Thanks. I hope they are not legit! I am a native, live and have lived in what many consider "rough" neighborhoods, yet even I consider New Lots a "no-go" area. I can't see it working out well there for some wet-behind-the-ears suburbanite, at all.
