The New York City Police Department is taking aim at owners of shotguns and rifles capable of holding more than five rounds, demanding such guns be surrendered, altered or taken out of the city....New York has the strictest gun laws in the country, and the city has even tighter restrictions

So now only criminals will have the upper hand.

Not referring to alien invasion or mutant cockroaches. But please, continue living in your fantasy world where nothing catastrophic can happen that will cause the well-behaved, "progressive" angels that make up the majority of this city to kill your daughter in cold blood for a can of beans.

There is a solid argument to have certain guns in certain places. You may need them to shoot coyotes in rural areas for example. However, in a big city like New York it's more dangerous to have one lying around than not. Some kid finds it, or a noise scares you and you end up shooting your wife, or you have a few too many one night and end up shooting yourself.

If conditions in the city deteriorate to the point where you need a gun to ensure your "safety" then it's time to move.
