The lottery process begins about 60 days after the application deadline in which the submitted applications are chosen randomly, given a log number in the order in which they were picked. That's why its a lottery. It takes luck to get your application picked randomly. The log number usually starts with #1 and then goes up to the thousands. Each application that was logged in is reviewed and will either move on to an interview or disqualified. Disqualification can be for a a number of reasons. If you receive notice for an interview, your initial application was approved based on what they read in your application. At the interview you will have to provide all the financials to support what you have written. A credit check will be done also. It is very strict and it is very serious to be within the income guidelines, not even a penny under or over. Good credit is a must. Your employer, landlord, banks will be notified for verification. The number on your housing connect online is not the log # for the lottery. Your application as mentioned earlier has to be chosen randomly to get a log number. It takes only luck to be picked randomly and get a log #! Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do even if you qualify.
Good for you CR52! My log number is in the 28000 range. Just dropped off my docs on Tuesday. Thanks for the update. Good to know they are interviewing.
Thanks for keeping us informed! It seems that there is some confusion as to what the log# in housing connect really means. If you applied through housing connect, do your application log numbers match with the log number in the housing connect site?
Hmm the lottery process I posted was in regards to how it used to be when you only mailed in your application. I guess with the online choice to apply, its different now.
