Why not mrmondaynight? Why should the Bronx dumb down it's standards?

Would you have prefered it be turned into some type of indoor basketball courts so the neighborhood thugs and gangbangers can bring their riff-raff and ghetto drama with them to this new complex?

Yeah, I fail to see the problem with this. Why not? It's good exercise (or can be), it's a business, it's a wholesome activity for kids. Win/win/win. If you don't like it, no one's forcing you to go.

Why shouldn't kids be exposed to a nice world class skating rink? Don't the kids in the Bronx deserve the same nice amenities as the Burbs? You realize Mark Messier started a Harlem Hockey League.

I don't see inner city Bronx youth flocking to an ice rink.

They rarely go to the one in Manhattan.

A basketball court provides a venue for hood people to get together and act like animals. Basketball is an "urban" sport with an urban culture that attracts mainly hood people. I suggest you watch one of those "and-one" basketball mixtape videos.

The ones that use the Harlem Central Park rink, Riverbank rinks and the rinks in Westchester county will have one closer to home.

Yes Dominicans are on ice, and they skate it well.
