But i'm going to follow the upcoming World Cup and Ronaldo. The country of Ordem E Progresso is hosting despite a few internal problems. But sports is sports and should be kept separate from political issues.

Major League Soccer Stadium Likely To Land In The Bronx - Soccer Sagas - Curbed NY

So the Kingsbridge National Ice Center (KNIC) in the Bronx finally got approved, now a New Soccer stadium may be built in the Bronx as well. Very excited with all the investments happening in the Bronx. Change is in the air!!! It's just a matter of time.

New York's newest Major League Soccer team is reportedly very close to finding a permanent home. Capital New York got their hands on the details of a deal that would have the New York City Football Club, a franchise co-owned by the Yankees and Manchester City owner and Abu Dhabi royalty Sheik Mansour bin Zayed al-Nahyan, build a new stadium near Yankee Stadium. The 10-acre site includes three bankrupt parking facilities, a portion of 153rd Street, and a commercial building that holds a 400-person elevator company. The club would likely pay $25 million to the Bronx Parking Development, which defaulted on a $237 million loan, and they are in talks to buy out the elevator parts company and relocate it. Negotiations are still underway and no one would comment on the possible deal.

The $350 million development would be financed with city-issued tax-exempt bonds, and the club would get $21.5 million in tax waivers. A 99-year lease would be signed, and only after 38 years would the club start paying the city market rate rent. Involved parties hope to reach a deal by spring 2014 so the public review process could be finished by summer 2015. If all goes as they hope, the 28,000-seat venue would be ready for matches in spring 2018. Until then, the team will play at Yankee Stadium.

The ever-popular SHoP Architects created a preliminary designs of what a MLS stadium in New York could look like, but the club has apparently swapped the firm for another well-known name: Rafael Vinoly Architects. Vinoly is best known in New York for his skyscraper designs (22 Thames and 432 Park), but he has a few sports venues in his portfolio; the Beijing National Swimming Center and the Princeton University Stadium are both Vinoly creations.

Originally, the new soccer stadium was proposed for a part of Flushing Meadows Corona Park, but strong community opposition to losing more parkland made MLS look elsewhere. So Queens, it's pretty safe to say you're in the clear on this one.
This stadium does not make any sense at all. Why build a stadium to play soccer when the nearby Yankee Stadium is only open for half of the year. It would be better for the soccer club to play at Yankee Stadium it has more seats if anything, but also be good for staff and employees who will get more round a clock working hours. I don't see any added benefit of another stadium in the South Bronx especially since its being funded by tax payers dollars ala like the Yankee Stadium near by Citifield in Queens and Barclays in so called hip n trendy Brooklyn. Yawnn going to bed!

Default honest graft

Two stadiums means double the "honest graft". Its only taxpayer money so why not build as many stadiums as possible for all the billionaire team owners.

I wish dolan would move MSG to the Yankee Stadium area. Having Rangers, Knicks and Yanke es in one area will bring in daily revenue.

Of course you'd say that, you're from BX.

But it would decrease revenue for MSG Inc.

People ain't paying the same money to go to Ranger games in the Bronx.

A soccer field in a baseball stadium isn't optimal for people to watch.

It's do able but I wouldn't want to watch a game in that venue indefinitely.

Also, Baseball is pretty much an every day thing as far as games go, so having to switch for soccer and baseball would be annoying with practices and games. I actually don't know how they deal with the pitchers mound as that sits above the field. covering the dirt is easy with some patches of turf thrown on top, but it seems like they would have to remove the mound every time.

True. Maybe the team could play at MetLife stadium. (The most expensive stadium ever built) Filling all the 70,000 seats might be a problem though.

Go try to build something in manhattan. It will be tied up in the courts for years. Look at what Dolan did to the Jets plans for a stadium in Manhattan. All transplants have taken control of Manhattan.

Transplants were largely responsible for the Barclays Center.
