Nice find G-Dale. I've been to a few of the places and have to agree. Franklin SQ is a ton of Italians that used to live in Brooklyn or Queens. Niagra Falls has a small little Italy along Pine Street. Buffalo has a little Italy on the North Side.
Of course there are Irish and Italian neighborhoods.
Woodlawn in the Bronx is probably the most heavily Irish area (very heavy with Irish newcomers) and there are certain parts of the Rockaways (areas like Breezy Point) and Brooklyn (areas like Gerritson Beach) that are mostly Irish.
And for Italians there are even more areas. Much of the South Shore of Staten Island is majority Italian, plus Dyker Heights, Brooklyn (13th Ave. area), Middle Village, Queens, Howard Beach, Queens, and Morris Park in the Bronx.
Yes, Staten Island especially the South Shore has lots of Italians, Sicilians, etc... but don't always let the looks fool you. There are plenty of Albanians and others that look and even act Italian but are nothing of the kind. Also as taboos about marrying other ethnic groups and or even races have broken down you find many with Italian last names but are anywhere from only half to one-quarter. There is quite a lot it seems of Italian/Albanian, Sicilian/Cuban, Latino/Italian.
There still a decent amount of areas where both ethnic groups are well represented, although there's hardly any areas where they make up like 90 percent of the population anymore. My area in Queens for example, has plenty of Irish, Germans, and Italians, but it also has a decent size population of Polish, Hispanics, and some other ethnic groups.
I'll give you Howard Beach but Throggs Neck? You're nuts... That area is probably majority PR and that's not even taking into account the other Hispanic groups... Throggs Neck hasn't been majority Italian for a long time now.

Based on the map that G-dale provided... Looks like you hit it right on the head with Bensonhurst being 30% but even then, it still has a larger percentage of Italians than Middle Village... Middle Village is more working middle class Polish/Italian/Romanian/Albanian, etc. whereas Bensonhurst in most cases depending on the block is either majority Chinese or majority Italian...
Wonder where the top 10(or 13) are,since the NY list seems to start with #14 nationally.I was kind of surprised that no zip code anywhere in NY State even makes into the top 10 nationally.

I think Bay Ridge is under-represented. I see Italians left and right. At least, the 11209 part, not the 11220 part.
It's not under-represented, that's just the percentages of Italians live in Bay Ridge. There's probably
very high numbers of Italians you see left and right in Bay Ridge were from other areas of the city like
Dyker Heights, Bath Beach and Bensonhurst who go there to drink and hangout with friends because
there is not much night life in their own neighborhoods.
