Bicycles are also outdated, and one could reasonably argue that they likewise have no business on city streets.

I am glad that something normal people like is getting banned Sorry but as twisted as it sounds I am glad the ban crowd gets a taste of their own medicine.

See how the ban culture works....eventually it will bite YOU in the behind.

Humans inhale those same fumes. Should humans be banned from New York City?

Horse-drawn carriages through Central Park are SO New York City. I think of all those films with romantic scenes of lovers riding through Central Park on horse-drawn carriages.

New York will be a little less New York without those horse-drawn carriages.

Yeah, I saw a few "man-on-the-street" news reports where tourists said the same. "I probably won't come back to Central Park without the horses..."

True. When a domestic animal like the modern horse have no use anymore it's off to the slaughterhouse to meet Carlos with the bolt pistol. There is no time for flowers and funeral arrangements. The horse is not a pet. But ppl should appreciate the horse and how it has worked with us thru misery and pain. When it's time for them to leave for eternal greener pastures we should make sure that it's done in a dignified way.

It could've been closer to home, but the HORSE LOVER lobby put the kibosh on that by sending death threats to the restauranteur who planned to serve horse meat in his Sicilian restaurant in Philadelphia last year. He had to cancel the plans for his own safety.

Gotta love animal rights extremists who are willing to kill human beings to save animals.

If you don't like it, why don't you and some others pull the carriages?

There is nothing magical about an old horse being enslaved to pull a huge carriage, a driver, and your Mcfata$$ through Central Park anymore than it is magical to eat at a fabulous restaurant with great views of Central Park while the employees are locked in a basement all night and are not paid.

You can pretend how these things are quintessential whatever, but the fact is they are bad and sad for those who work to make it "magical" for you. Ignorance of the truth makes you the saddest of all...and expressing sympathy for the "poor carriage drivers" who are out of jobs is like feeling bad for the black slaves owners when the slaves were freed...what will happen to the poor slave owners when there is no one to enslave?
