G-Dale you never answered my question about your age..I wonder why. And then you acknowledge "you know nothing about the Bronx" and in the next paragraph claimed " there is nothing going on in my neighborhood other than cheap rent." So now you allege to know all about the nabe huh? Which is it?

Nice talking to you kid...another one to be ignored. When you get a little older..come see me.

I will second 7th assessment....what is happening in the Southern Bronx is working/middle class developments. If you are seeking wine bars, $7 lattes, yupsters on stroller patrol, paying $1 million for the priviledge of gut renovating a brownstone...Bed Stuy is definitely the "hot" choice! If you are however a "regular" person who does not have access to your parents $500,000 retirement account, or do not have a $300,000 HH income, you are not invited to the Bed-Stuy party..or similar parties for that matter.

The Southern Bronx is being tailored for the working/middle class population...you want wine bars? I am pretty sure there are enough in this city to satiate every drunk...want $7 lattes...I can list a dozen off the top of my head. But where are you gonna live on that $90K salary where you can be 20 minutes to grand central, in a new condo or rental with all the building amenities (and more) you find in the other "hot" nabes for $750K but only pay 1/3 of that?

I find it entertaining to hear about the people who are of moderate incomes complain and dismiss one of the few areas they can actually afford to live..and should be so lucky to afford in the first place! Gotta love it!

I claim that nothing is going on in the south Bronx because when I asked you multiple times what one would find it worth taking the trip there for you refuse to give any recommendations. So what do you want me to assume? I'm definitely not going to go out of my way to travel there for these corporate investments (whether it be mcdonalds or red lobster) that cater to the working class since pretty much every single area in the tri-state already has access to these types of chains. Whoopty do, the south Bronx has finally caught up to the rest of America. What an amazing urban revitalization story!

BTW I'm in my 30s. Need any more person information to help you assess my posts?

That's what he's trying to tell you - it's not the type of gentrification that leans towards trendy. The trendier areas of the city will undoubtedly attract outsiders. But the type of gentrification that is going on in the south Bronx is the transition from poverty to middle class. Bed-Stuy is going from largely middle-class to upper-middle class.

But he claims it was slated for gentrification back in the '90s. That they tried to just build something there that would all of a sudden make it an attractive neighborhood for more affluent residents.

Can you quote the post that you're referring to? Just want to keep the conversation on point.

We are off topic anyway since we are only talking about the south Bronx now (and alittle bit about bed stuy) and completely forgot the topic was ENY.

If you mentioned Pitkin I knew my old block would come up... It's crazy how much some parts of Pitkin have changed in the last ten years... Demographics are still pretty much the same but just ten years ago all those new buildings that popped up by schenck, Jerome, Warwick, Barbey, etc. used to be empty lots or burned down buildings or boarded up homes for squatters... The crime is still area but the area looks so much nicer...

ENY proper looked a lot like areas in Detroit several years back and it did so for like 3 decades. The neighborhood still isn't perfect and needs a lot of work. Higher crime is still in the area and it remains with a gloomy appearance, not as gloomy and frightening as before though. However, the area did visually improved the last couple of years making use of the green space. The demographics are the same in ENY proper excluding the area of the northeast, which is Atlantic to Pitkin, where there are a number of Bengalis and other south Asians growing.
