Hi Guys,

I got 2 questions to ask NYers just out of interest and curiosity.

- There are a lot of foreign people and people from outside NY moving/living in the NYC area. Is it common to meet NYers that have families that have lived for generations in NY?

- Do NYers root for their home sports teams mainly?

Looking forwards to your answers

I am one.

And not rooting for a local team is a cardinal sin amongst us.

There are plenty of native NYers here, in my experience most live in the outer Boros but we still exist in manhattan. As far as sports teams Almost all natives root for local teams, however since we do have a lot of transplants you will definilty find fans of almost every team.
Let's go rangers!

Those seem like to strange questions to pick.

First, I find that people don't usually ask whether someone's family has been in NYC for generations. You usually just inquire where that particular person is from.

Second, I think people everywhere root for their home teams, which has always seemed silly to me. But most people I know don't care about any sports at all.

I'm sorry you find my questions odd, but it was just out of my curiosity. I knew that there were a lot of people who visit/move to new york from all over the world. I know that it's pretty pricey to live. So i was wondering whether generations of families stay in New York (or left the city). Again, it might sound odd to you or anybody but there's no harm intended. Absolutely not.

Plenty of long-term, multi-generation New Yorkers. You will often find them on this forum cursing those of us who haven't been here for 40 years as the scum of the earth

Yes, many NYers who are into sports root for the home teams, like any other city.

Many transplants end up rooting for NY teams too, for that matter.
