Ugh I absolutely hate these guys, when I encounter them at work it literally drives me to consider quiting. I need to figure out a way to overcome my anxiety around rats/mice living in nyc and working around trash overnight lol
A few years ago was walking along East 28th Street from Sixth going towards Fifth when looked down and saw a huge rat in a snap trap. This was in broad daylight and apparently it must have been thrown out from one of the buildings. There is so much residential over there but also lots of Indian owned export/import businesses and so forth. Was the first time one had ever seen a rat in a snap trap before.
My first thought was who would do such a disgusting thing. I mean if you were man enough to set the trap and some how pick it up, why chuck it out onto the street? The other was a mental note not to ever shop in those stores, period.
Course later on the infamous "rat" KFC video would surface from literally right down the block on the corner of Sixth Avenue.
Didn't someone snap a picture of a rat in the display case at juniors in Brooklyn? Yikes
Junior's, Eli's Bakery on UES, the list goes on and on. As the article linked above states you see the same things in Paris and other major cities. It has gotten so bad one really does not know what boulangeries, supermarkets, shops or restaurants to trust.
No garbage disposals. It's that simple. Although I do believe they were finally made legal sometime ago. But I would guess 99% of houses and restaurants don't have them.
