I just was wondering if the area near Forest Park in Forest Hills is a somewhat convenient location to live?
is there a subway near by and stores etc? or is it a more isolated place?
I was just looking at some apartments near there and they look nice so it has me wondering lol

also, anyone ever rent at Parker Towers or Talbot Gardens (I think its Kew Gardens)?

We are looking for a 1 bedroom in Forest Hills, our limit is about $1700 (would prefer $1500 rent of course lol but willing to go higher). Being near Austin st would be nice but walking a few minutes there
is not a problem

Thanks in advance!

From that part of forest hills you'd still be using E/F train on 71st. You can take the Q23 to the subway if not up to the walk. You got some restaurants on metropolitan ave as well as trader joes.

Talbot Gardens is in kew gardens, not forest hills. Your child if any will be zoned for ps99 which is an ok school. Its also not next to forest park. Suggest you look at Hampton court which is next to forest park in kew gardens.

Parker Towers has a terrible reputation--management apparently is awful. A friend lived there for a year and at one point, all the elevators in his building were being repaired and this was considered normal.

Forest Park isn't really near the main part of Forest Hills--where did you look?

A nice one bedroom in FH will run you close to the top end of your budget. Kew Gardens is a bit less, so you need to know what you are looking for--FH Austin St. is very different from KG Austin St.

Forest Park area is far and inconvenient. You will be walking for over 15-20mins to get to the trains and the buses are always late. You can't park anywhere near the commons you'll get booted.

Look for something kew gardens, more rentals there.

If you are interested in being close to Forest Park your best bet would be Kew Gardens. There are rentals available with about a five minute walk to the Kew Gardens Gate of the park. Your budget would get you a very nice 1 BR in Kew Gardens and the walk to the Forest Hills Austin Street Shopping area in nice weather is about 10-15 min or one train stop away.

As others have mentioned, you wouldn't want to live right by Forest Park. You could try near the Kew Gardens subway station or near the subway stations in Forest Hills: 75th Ave, 71st Ave, and 67th Ave. $1700 is not a problem for a one bedroom.

From that area the Kew Gardens LIRR is convenient as well.

It's really pretty around there.
