Rich people overpay for stuff all the time. I'm sure this is a drop in the bucket for her and will do a total gut renovation. I'm also sure she had other options but for whatever reason she likes this one best.

They went out of fashion for practical reason. Its a crappy stone that flakes after water damage. Limestone is better at withstanding the elements and lasts longer.

^ It's happening, just now for the other 'big names' to show up. Once the conquest of Bushwick and Bed Stuy nears completion. The other neighborhoods nearby will be the next meal.

Wow i cant believe it. 896 Flushing Ave is the place she purchased. I grew up in those projects 1 block away The building next to it 890 had a whorehouse and a crack den on the different floors in the 80's/90's. Upon last visiting my mother who still lives in the area i notice theres still lots of rats late at night in the 890/896 building. Truly remarkable how much it has changed. Crunch gym/planet fitness/a new hotel (2-3yrs old) are right there next to the train station. Guess it was a matter of time till a name celebrity made someplace around there hers.

By cant believe it, i mean the price.

Wow this is unbelievable! $1 Million for this awful location and for an average looking building? NYC prices are just ridiculous.

Never been around there on foot at night - only driving, but I believe you when you say over there is rat-infested. You know where got a lot of rats at night? By Marcy. Flushing Avenue side.
