I think I've commented on this before. I don't understand it, if you have a long waiting list why are you seeking more applicants and requiring them to come up with $200. It seems like a scam to me, because most people will forget about that money. Make sure you keep a copy of the front and back of your cancelled check. I had a problem getting my money back because I didn't have enough proof of payment.

I know someone who owns one and it took 7 years to get a call. The apartment is spacious and nice; she pays in the $400s per month. I do not recall how much she paid for it.

Our letter was post dated Feb 14th.

The apartments are now $40,000? If so, how much is the maintenance?

My friend owns one of the 2 bedrooms and she is paying $1500 per month. That includes the parking as well. It is not cheap but also not expensive.

If your number is 50 and higher, you can forget about moving in. Don't wast.e your $200. It will take you decades before they will call you

My friend also told me that the XYZ reason is the resolution so called "First Sale". The EMP buildings are old and need extensive repairs. Most tenants in the buildings are old folks who either have no extra money or are reluctant to continue to lay out chunks of money to fix the buildings. As a result, the board wants to get money from outsiders. That's why they open new waiting lists to get $200 * 1000 = $200,000 and require new tenants to pay $40,000 instead of $20,000. The extra $20,000 are used to pay for the renovation and repaying some of the old loans.

Maintenance (Carrying charge) is about $674-$1093, depends on the size of the two bedroom and income range, I assume.

Staff at EMP housing company inc. are very friendly to answer questions by phone. They said so far there are 9 two bedroom units immediately available, and people on the list have two chances to decide if they want to take the next vacant apt. The $150 fee is refundable if you decide not to move in.

Anyone has latest news to share? Thanks!
