I have seen ads for Manhattan Mini Storage advertising units "from $29 per month" so I guess it's worth a shot to call them. Who knows, there could be all kinds of small print and extra fees.

Those 29 buck deal ones are usually the smallest closet about 4x4x3 and require 6-12 month commitment. Also you get limited choices on where.

I can't image you will find anywhere cheaper then $29.99. Even gym locker rentals are around that price for a locker and then you gotta pay for a gym membership.

As it was once explained to me sometimes renting storage space is more of a racket than anything else. Often you will spend more, much more than the value of whatever you are storing in the first place.

Leaving aside temporary needs such as moving house or redecorating most persons would be better off sitting down and "editing" what they think needs storing. Chances are much of it can and should just be given away or otherwise disposed.

Proof of this is when you see various "storage wars" programs on television. For every person that lands a "gold mine" in unclaimed items, more end up having purchased junk.
