I paid $29.99 the first year then it went up to $59.99 so I called them and they gave me the "special" of $39.99 for a year. What will happen when that year is up is anyones guess.
Yea thats what she said..... That the prices change after a year but " just call us and we will give you any promotion we have " ... What gives ???
Any way is it a flat 39.99 a month or is there " modem" rental fee also ??
it is included in whatever promotional rate they gave you usually and you do have the right to use your own modem but I would not because if you have a problem they will look at the line and guess where they will say the problem is. I did at one time work for them and I forget what the modem fee was but it was insignificant in the long run and again for the savings not worth the potential problems you might have. Also it has to be an approved modem not any old one will do. My remembrance is the fee was $3.95 per month if not included in the promotional rate. By law now every company has to charge for the modem fee and list it separately on your bill and further give you the right to provide your own "approved modem" for which they will take the fee off your bill.
So looking at this if you need to go out and buy a modem for $100 and you save $4 approx that is 25 months. Unless you already have an approved modem then it is not worth it. Get it ?

For what it's worth, and I know it's a different company - I live in NYC and have Time Warner Cable internet (no TV, cut the cord longggggg ago). Anyway, the TWC modem monthly fee was about 6$ a month - and of course the cable companies rent out the lowest possible quality hardware they can...so they are crappy modems anyway. You are paying monthly for 'crap' hardware.
I bought my own Motorola Surfboard for about $75 - which gives VASTLY (!!!!!!!!!!!) better performance, as in NO dropouts and a rock stable data Tx rate. That was 7 years ago. No drops. Well except for the Sandy storm lol.
6x12x7 = $504 - $75 modem cost = $430 saved in that time - and with the bonus of VASTLY better internet performance. So it was worth every penny and more. Way more. You could not PAY me to use their crap hardware again.
So many people have crap service with TWC and I've swapped them over to SB modems and presto bingo, problems solved. So at least for TWC in NYC, its VERY worth getting your own modem, better service, and it's paid for in about 1 year.
Oh, and cut the cord folks, it amazes me people still pay for cable TV in this day and age...trust me you wont miss it one bit.
