Exactly. Us tax payers foot the bill. And so it begins...additional entitlement programs. Thank you so much mayor De Bozo! Why am I not surprised.
And do you see why I keep saying a new mayor can make all the difference in the long term real estate markets in the city? Though feds have cut back, it looks like under de Blasio the city and the state are willing to make the difference in certain programs.
For the record I am not anti NYC. But anyone who thinks that real estate markets can be affected by political change is just fooling themselves. What if the expansion of this entitlement program leads more people with HIV/Aids to getting apartments in the Bronx and other poor areas of the city? Expect more drugs, for starters.

Drugs like protease inhibitors and nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors?

The majority of subsidized AIDS patients are not going to be hard-working, deserving, normal people who acquired the disease through no fault of their own. They're going to junkies, like the beneficiaries of most other entitlement programs.

Exactly! The majority of these AIDS/HIV patients and prospective tenants have lived a very reckless and questionable lifestyle.
As a landlord who wants to improve your building and neighborhood, would you really want to rent to these type of people? I mean really?
Aside from the fact they have AIDS or HIV, their CHARACTER and LIFESTYLE comes into question especially if they may become a potential tenant in your building. The last thing you want is for this character to move in and impose his lifestyle, social gatherings with his like-minded people upon the building and ruin the quality of life and the dynamics of the building. Stuff to think about before you rent to these people.

People on said programs usually aren't able to rent out apartments in nicer neighborhoods for precisely these reasons, and obviously a large number of these people are junkies.
