Very interesting info from you OTJ guys. So, when you're a new hire ...do they usually place you in the same county that you live in? And do you really have a choice of garage? how long before you can transfer?

Do you get a raise after 6 months being they raised the starting pay to 31k or do you have to wait till the year ??

Under the new contract, isn't the weekly pay $625? So after taxes, healthcare insurance, deferred comp, & $25 for CDL, that number basically gets chopped in half? Is that really the case?

Also, what garages are you hearing as being the best Manhattan garages?

Manhattan garages is were the money's at, alot of Jr. guys make truck, Queens & Bk garages, for the most part is lighter than the rest of the city but more walking yet there are alot of Sr. guys & making truck is less likely, more than likely, you'll be doing relays(dumping the trucks) or MLP(broom, shovel & a pail), Staten Island...i'm not even gonna bother coz nobody's going there. Bronx...Heavy. 20+ tons is the norm.

As a new guy, what incentives were you eligible to take advantage of?

The money situation in the beginning is kind of rough but they have plenty of incentives that can always help you bulk up your paycheck.

I don't think after taxes its that little of a pay check... its about 600 without over time and truck or any other incentive.. they do not take 300 in taxes ... i make over 800 now and they dont take 300 in taxes......
