From reading the job descriptions about the supervisors, sure they make more money but it comes with a price, more responsibility, more headaches, more stress.

What about disability insurance? Is there a minimum amount of years you have to put in before becoming eligible for a disability pension?

Default Supervisors

I'm in my third year with the sanitation. From what I've seen, supervisors have a much less physical job but are held responsible for every little thing that goes wrong. Thats how it is in the bronx, however the bronx is the hardest boro to work in compared to brooklyn or queens.

if you can get a 4 to 12 garage spot,12 to 8 garage spot or get into sick leave as a supervisor than theres really no stress plus you get 10% nite diff.Only as a field supervisor you have to deal with all the stress and 8 to 4 garage spot you have to do payroll for 50 guys plus all the deliveries are on the day line. But i still think everyone should try it,you have up to a year to throw the badge in. One of my supervisors made $122,000 this past year he got retro but hes not even at top pay yet and hes always happy and having fun so i guess its stressful only if you make it stressful. Anyone know when the list is coming out? i heard the first class is gonna be in May anyone hear different?

How many years does your supervisor have on the job that he made that much?

Understood Wreckerman, thanks for the info. The supervisors are the guys who wear the green uniforms driving around in dept cars/suv's right? the ones who follow the trucks on the route, etc. I bet even the security guards stationed at the booths in front of the dsny garages make good money, lol.
