Thanks, wreckerman. I got 82 right and thats also before the protest. Most people in my garage either failed or got in the low to mid 70's. Do you know how many people they are going to promote over the next four years and when will they start? Thanks!

So I guess all that overtime would make up for the truck money?

Just looking for some info
Hey guys have been reading all the post and figured I would sign up. You all sound like good guys with some good info about DSNY.
I took the test and got 102.5 amd my list # is in the upper 800's. Went for the phyical test and did well, studying for the CDL permit and plan to take the written test in the next few weeks. I know you guys have posted long and hard about it but when do you think I will be called. I understand they are not going to start calling people till around May. Really sorry to ask the same old queston

Once I get that I will go to cdl training school.
The permit expires one year from today,my goal is to get my CDL by this summer,no way do I want to have to go through taking the written tests all over again. My number (middle #5,000) won't come up until at least 2 yrs anyway.
I felt like I was the only one who took the test in english at the Garden City DMV lol,the clerks had a hard time translating to a couple of people who were speaking in spanish.

I felt like that too! Its a melting pot on Garden City, really is. Congrats though, and yea it makes sense to get the license on your own if you're number wont be called for a little. Mine will be in the first round and I cant afford it on my own so I have to do the DSNYs training. Good luck tho.

Welcome to the group. Im done worrying about when they are going to call us right now. I been makin myself waiting for an answer that no one officially knows, so whats the point? I just know that I'll be in the first round (list#135) and Im doing OK right now workin for Nassau County until Sani calls. If I wasnt employed right now, Id probly be goin nuts waiting for this sh*t tho. Patience is not a strong point over here.

Still waiting to get my cdl-b permit in the mail...got an email from a driving school in Suffolk County,$850.00 for the cdl,but it is off exit 65 on the LIE,I live near exit 19,not even worth considering with the price of gas these days.
This school is worth visiting. Queens Auto Driving School - Car lessons
I hope it doesn't come down to taking the road test in a school bus, would prefer taking it in a straight truck, dump truck, all I know it has to be over 26,000 lbs. That rules out rental trucks, the 26 ft trucks are well below that weight limit.

In my first year, between truck money, night diff, charts and sundays I made about $10,000 on top of my base salary.
