Default transfers

Should you end up straight out of class in a Garage for whatever reason that you do not like, yes you can transfer out. Transfer period would need to be open (meaning a time frame the dept designates for everyone to decide where they would like to go) it's not allways open. It usually does when there is a class going in becase they can fill the transfer slots with new people. I say give it time before you decide to transfer. Unless your in the bronx and live in staten island.

Just to keep you posted I have now 5 people carpooling from staten Island, to FBF for the 7th of July. I can only take 2 more max, any more and we will have to split up, but keep me informed and we'll see how many are from SI going and make arrangements. I received info from Hope 8768 and the kuai, Chris 84 and vito13.

To all the hopefulls on this Forum. Take into consideration that not everyone whom took the exam is on this forum so the list numbers that are not here may be some of them. Also lots of young people (under 21) are not eligable to take the job yet and may have a list number lower than yours. They get passed over until they are 21. The people that have not gotten permit (class B) Stop stalling go get it and if you have a high number you can better your odds of getting called if you have your CDL already. I drove buses before having this job so I had my CDL and all the endorsements and i was lucky enough to get hired before lots of people from the last exam (hired in '04)that had list number lower than i had. For whatever reason...maybe they faild road test or permits whatever. If you go and take a the general knowledge or any endorsement and fail you can make a trip to another dmv and take it again. you may even get lucky and get the same exam. make sure you go early so if you do fail then you would have time to travel to the next dmv office. Those that are going for a road test. Kick back and relax before the test. The road test examiners pretty much are stressed out (wouldnt you be if you had to take new driver for a road test) and if they see that you can handle a pretty big piece of equipment like a cut down (AKA dump Truck) or a bus you pretty much got it in the bag. truth be told thats what they are looking for. That you can handlejudge and observe a vehicle wieghng over 28k pounds , Yes it helps to be polite. Should you fail...keep your head up ask nicely for them to explain what you did wrong so you can practice that for the next time. And dont get in there face and yell scream and ***** to them someone else (maybe even a fellow sanman) is going to take the road test as well and you just may get the examiner pissed off for that person.

Default road test

when you are approaching an intersection and there are cars in front of you turning left and you are trying to turn left, do you pull up behind them or wait behind the crosswalk? I'm concerned that if I pull up behind them, the light will turn red and then I'm stuck in the middle of the intersection.

and when you do the pre-trip, is it just you and the examiner or are the 8-10 other guys all standing around watching you too? (at least I won't have Moe screamin' at me)
