Not to get off the topic, but what toll are you talking about? Where are those garages located? The way I would go to the BX is the usual way I go which is to take the BK Bridge to the FDR to the Willis Ave Bridge (or Third Ave Bridge? I forget which one) and either the Deegan/ I-87 or the Bruckner. No tolls involved. What garages are located along that route?
You did hit the nail on the head, I need a small garage with big weight for the first couple of years. I don't give a flip if I have to break my back.

Might as well stay in Brooklyn and drive to work in 10 minutes w/ no toll.
JB needs a small garage with big weight (BX 1, 2, or 3 for instance) because money IS an object.

I think he means the Triborough Bridge,$5.00 each way starting in March, with EZpass it is $4.15 each way. That is going to be at least an hour commute. Traffic in the Bronx is a nightmare. Is the long commute plus the heavy workload at some of the Bronx garages worth it to you JB? Bx9 Bx10,Bx11 are right off the Hutchinson River Pkwy,so the toll would be the Whitestone bridge if coming up from Queens.

I don't think he is making that much as a bus operator for the MTA,the max I believe is $27.00 hr,not much overtime over there. Still even if he was making $65k a year it wouldn't make sense to switch to a job starting out at $30k yr. I don't think your 8 years of service at the MTA would count towards the DSNY pension. It would make sense if you just had 1 or 2 yrs at the MTA,aren't there any advancement oppurtunites for bus operators over there?

No, that wouldn't make sense. I need a garage near the Deegan/I87 or the Bruckner. Where are the other Bx garages located?
