Bx 1,2,3,4,5 are right off the Bruckner. Bx 7 & 8 are right off the Deegan.

I read about Bloombergs budget cuts. For the DSNY no more leaf collection and a reduction on litter basket collection. I didn't read anything about less new hires. But your source is more reliable than what is written in the newspaper.

I do know for a fact that the budget deficit will get worse next year as well as the following 2 years after that. Less new hires, less people called in for processing,it doesn't look good for me being in the mid #5,000's...timing is everything in life.

the dsny never increases the workforce, they just replace retired workers.the nypd and fdny increase their workforce.the dsny would be cutting their workforce by doing this ..i thought the cuts would keep everything status quo.quess i was wrong

If they really wanted to cut, they should force more senior guys to retire,2 new hires costs less than 1 senior guy. I wonder if the union has any say in this,oh well it is what it is.

Keep your head up guys and have everything in order if and when the time comes.

You wonder if the Sanitation Union has any say in getting rid of senior men?

I'm not sure if you understand the purpose of a Union......because that most certainly is not it!

What I meant to say was if the Union has any say in the amount of new hires during the next 4 years. I guess not since we are only list #'s...

Rumor has it that we're (DSNY) are taking over the cleaning responsibilites of NYC Parks & Highways which are currently handled by the Park's Dept & DOT respectively & if the rumor holds true, the Department may just be in need of more personnel. Take it for what it's worth.
