Anyone saw "HISTORY CHANNEL" Program "THE WORKS" TODAY Channel 40 (Time Warner Cable); "Disposing of Garbage". It was taped on DSNY and explains how routes are given out. How not to carry the garbage bags, especially using your leg to pick it up. The single most dangerous part of the job it's IMPATIENT CARS, they will hit you. And always shake the bags on the sidewalk. That liquid you see might be dog ****. And, oh if the hopper clamps a bag don't try to save the bag it's only garbage, don't lose a hand over it .
Well check your cable listings to see if you guys/gals can catch it again.

I watched it last night, recorded it without the commercials. Mo Ragusa comes towards the end of the program. They are at FBF and he talks about the 7 secrets of sanitation.
In the begining that sanman who had stiches in his leg from getting cut from a broken wine bottle,he was out 5 months. Always carry the bags away from your legs.
On Monday when Robin Nagle spoke to you guys in class, did she mention anything about her new book? it was supposed to come out last year, think it was going to be called.."We all wear green".
Question for all you guys in training now. How is it going at FBF? I know it was mentioned that a couple of guys dropped out, wondering if any of you guys could see why someone would quit so soon. Are you guys still excited about your new career or has a few days of training been a dose of reality and not as much enthusiasm already. Just curious to know what you guys are thinking about the whole thing. As always, good luck to all.
The program was interesting. I laughed at the part of "shake it before you take it". Words to remember and live by. I know all the guys in waiting (including myself) keep asking the same old question....but with list number 17xx...do you think they will squeeze me into the October class?
To everyone else who just got on board...we can't wait to join you guys. Keep us posted.
Soon you'll be veterans and showing us newer guys the ropes.

Wilk, I could tell you what you want to hear but with #17xx, I really don't think you will be part of the Oct. class. They will probably get close to 700 for August. So even if they call 125 in October and used even a 5:1 ratio (calling 5 to get 1) that would only be another 625 added to the 700 or so called by August. You'll be hired sometime next year I suspect. Good luck to you.
I just spoke to HR and they are starting to call today into next week. The hire date is Aug 11th.
Thats right guys I said TODAY, the guy I spoke to said he was doing 320 right now. Here we go, good luck to all.
P.S. He said he had no clue about another class going in in Sept/Oct. Not that that means anything. He just might not know.
