Today will be as excruciating....It gets so much better when you're out driving and doing things. Just hang in there.

What do you guys mean by "out of towners" in a station...also ive been hearing alot of san workers being laid off and then re-hired in previous posts, does this happen often?....and if you do get laid off, is there a possibility that it could be for good?

Out-of-towners are guys who work at other garages and they are sent to work at another garage for the day on the 6a-2p shift. (7a-3p during night plow) Another way to be considered an out of towner is even when you sign in at your own district, but you are sent out from there to work at another garage b/c there is no work for you at your garage.

another day, another dollar. Today wasn't so bad. We met the union president with his entourage. Looked like something outta goodfellas. He reminded me of Tony Nappa from Oz. He made some good points though about how strong the union is and the how they are fighting against the 18 month probation. The deferred comp portion was interesting too.

For guys OJT, how are the supervisors? are they lenient or uptight? do they take care of you? what do you guys think so far of your garages? I wanna get an idea of what to expect outside the training environment.

Also for the guys in the last class, how was the street driving and the OJT night driving. Was it tough like the CDL course. What were the instructors looking for in particular?
