ok question guys. my list number is ''82*''. I went for the pre-employment and the medical. I'm currently on the list for nypd tea. I went for my phych and oral psych and passed. now they want me to come down for an interviewand final investigation for consideration. the jon sucks and so does the pay. the only benifit to me is the time I would put in would count towards my 20yrs. do you guys think ill be called this summer for dsny ? if so do you think it would be worth it to be in the april class for nypd tea ?

I currently make alittle more than the base pay or nypd tea (traffic agent). its a tough decision because I really don't want to shell out $700 plus for uniforms on a job I won't have for very long.

I am currently an occupational coach for disabled adults. not a high paying job but its rewarding when you make a difference in a disabled persons life towards independence. the hours are not too long the benifits are on par if not slightly better than my friend's who works for nypd as a cop. but the 403b (like a 401k) leaves much to be desired and I have some job security since the agency I work for is fed and state funded.

TEA is not an easy job, really stressfull, but they are also probably the only agency hiring right now. As for DSNY, going by the current hiring rate you would probably be in one of the next 2 classes. When will that be is the question... Layoffs are looking like a major possibility and are being talked about at all the garages I have been to lately. If you are 100% certain you want the sanman position and the TEA is not that much of a upgrade for you career wise...then just stay put at your current spot. I know people who have quit from TEA 1st day otj because they couldn't take it.
