Only thing with Bellerose is the very limited public transportation. Depending on the OP's budget, having to take the LIRR will be an added expense.
The Q8 is awful. Never on time, and takes to long to get where you need to go since almost every intersection along 101 Ave has a traffic light. I gave up and use to take the Q24 instead whenever I needed to go to Jamaica from where I use to live.

For what it's worth, I've heard that the Q24 is even more unreliable nowadays, with hour long waits and then 5 buses coming at once.

Hopefully when BusTime expands to Queens (which should be on March 9th), it'll help improve the reliability, or at least make it so that you get an idea of where the bus is so you can time yourself accordingly.

Don't ever rely on buses, they are never on time especially they have to stop and pickup so many elderly.

You don't have to tell me! I took that bus all the time to either Cityline or Jamaica. There were times I walked from 105 Street to 77th Street in Cityline because the bus never came. I know one of the drivers and he even said it's still horrible lol
