Hey all, just a few observations of the W 42nd street at 5 am. My job takes me to the area of around 8th and 9th aves at 5 am and boy do the crazies come out. I entered the subway restaurant after going through 5 grown men doing nothing but standing around. Inside I saw a dude with a lot of gold on, counting money, and one by one men started to come in and gave him more money, and wouldn't you believe it, the blinged out dude gave back crack rocks in zip locks and told them to sell a certain amount by 8 am. Apparently he was the the provider. After them, in comes in 2 woman, who appeared drugged and looked like prostitutes stumbling into the bathroom in their high heels. Outside the store some vagrant sat crossed legged, put a white powder (appeared to be cocaine) on the floor, and snorted it straight from the sidewalk floor.
That's all over 42nd at that time. A lot of mean looks, a crap load of people on drugs, and prostitutes hidden in the shadows. This was more drug activity than I have ever seen in the Bronx. It was crazy. Not a cop in sight. People say this area used to be much worse, but after what I seen this morning, I find it hard to believe.
So for any who miss the old seedy time square, pay a visit at 4-5 am in the morning and prepared to be shocked.
I use to live over there and I saw many many things. Lived in 3 pats in the area. There's a lot of homeless shelters around times square. Also still some sro's. Both don't attract the best type of people. I loved the convenience when I lived there but now that I don't I don't miss the area at all. What a **** hole for the prices they charge!

Believe me it was far worse years ago with all the porno theaters and the prostitutes and drug dealers hanging around that area. It was nerve-wracking to walk through that area with my Mom when we visited New York. I was constantly getting harassed by scary looking men.
There also used to be hundreds of homeless people inside the Port Authority Bus Terminal (mostly sleeping outside the OTB office) and they were probably wandering around, too. We would see pimps all over the bus terminal, waiting for runaways entering New York.
People that don't like this kind of stuff are ruining New York. Damn gentleifiers. I mean who cares that some crack head women started stomping an 80 yr old guys head at the port authority yesterday just because? It's the rich's fault. If they were taxed more, we wouldn't have these problems. Actually wait, there are no problems. Let's focus on things like the fair treatment of horses.
Like personally seen genius. I wasn't on east 196th watching all those people run -_-
Well how often are you outside in the Bronx at 4-5 AM? You said you were outside on 42 Street at 4-5 AM for work.....how often would you be in that area at that time of day if it were not for your job?? So of course you're personally not going to see that in the Bronx, you don't run the streets man. Please, back in my day I would see drug deals all up and down Creston Avenue at 10 PM.
