But now that the eastern U.S. had a cold winter, we can put that to rest once and for all.

Now that you mention it I seem to vague remember something like that I believe in 1999. But I don't remember that winter in general being particularly bad like the one we have just had.

Am old enough to remember when shopping for "Easter clothes" in NYC often included a new coat for us kids. Said garment would and often did see use as "Sunday clothes" until warmer weather arrived in earnest.

Long story short, it is not strange to have cold or even freezing weather in "Spring" NYC. March certainly is not known for being uniformly warm and neither is much of April.

By late April or early May temps remain more or less >50F day and night with occasional dips.

What is it with these "one swallow does not a summer make" questions? We've had 60F weather on Thanksgiving, but that does not mean suddenly it is "summer" in the dead of winter.

It all depends on your point of view, and address:

Alaska unseasonably warm in January 2014

January 2014 was remarkably mild across nearly all of Alaska. The same
high-pressure system responsible for the intensification of drought in California and
Oregon kept southerly winds aloft for most of the month. (A similar pattern warmed the
state in October, as well.) This influx of warm air kept temperatures above
normal across the state, resulting in this January ranking among the “top ten”
warmest on record for many Alaskan communities according to preliminary
analyses.

January 2014 was the warmest since 1985 and the fourth warmest in the past
seven decades, according to an analysis of preliminary data from 14
geographically widespread weather stations across the state.

Northern Europe was unusually warm this winter, too.

I have been looking for places that train underwater breathing skills. Sure that will come handy some day.

this is not meant to be a spell on you, but just because you may nit live long enough to see certain consequences, you should deem them lies. some education will help your views.

Many never bought those lies in the first place.

Those who did generally don't seem to be able grasp basic epistemic operations, like causal priority.
