Last night, about 3:00 a.m., I became aware of a plane. A plane that just stayed, and sounded as if it were either going in a circle, or flying back and forth. Very low and very LOUD. At first it was just making me edgy, and then more and more irritated as I couldn't get back to sleep. It went on at least to 4:00 a.m., and at some point gradually moved farther off.
I remember an incident years ago when a plane flew up and down over the Hudson but was a little too far east, and panicked calls flooded in from residents thinking of 9/11. This morning I called the F.A.A. to ask what was going on ... and they knew nothing.
Surely I wasn't the only person in town to hear it?
