Have you looked at Woodlawn? Very safe. Although the commute sucks.

No one in Woodlawn would care if you are Jewish or Protestant. I am sure you are a decent person and no one would have a problem with that. The Irish are a very accepting people, given their own history of persecution and brutal rule by England for centuries.

When I lived in Norwood many years ago, we had a lot of Jewish people in our area, the Temple was on Hull Ave between Moshalu Parkway and 204th. Everyone got on together fine.

Regardless of your choice, best wishes RlRl.

They are only predjudice against blacks and non-white looking Hispanics. So unless you're wearing a yarmulke they will not bother you.

Personally if I could afford it I'd live in Fieldston but since it's a "private" neighborhood, within an already exclusive and expensive area of the NYC, I've heard the real estate is controlled by certain individuals who aren't very welcoming of outsiders... having walked through the area many times on the way to Wave Hill and the Riverdale Metro North station I kind of believe it. Plus, there are no rentals there within Fieldston.

He is talking about Fieldston not Parkchester. Fieldston is an exclusive enclave that is part of Riverdale. It is one of the most expensive neighborhoods in New York City.

I was referring to Jasper's comment about Woodlawn.

Woodlawn is a great nabe. It is isolated and I think that has a lot to do with the whole attitude towards "outsiders", but I've frequented the area and have never felt uncomfortable. Then again I am not black or Jewish and am Catholic, so that may help.

So basically if i'm understanding this it would expected for a Black or Jewish person to be unconfortable being in that area??

Sound like a very disturbing area if you ask me.
