Am I understanding this correctly? The ticket was issued one minute AFTER the alternate side time period? That alone should be thrown out.
My husband got a parking ticket for something similar. His ticket was also for alternate side but he was there on a TUESDAY while the alternate side rule was on WEDNESDAY. He took a picture of the sign and brought it with him. Waste of time for everyone.
Yeah one minute after which means he was probably waiting there and started to give it before or at 10:30..jesus christ.
Yes, that's my understanding. I believe the intent of the law is that no two clocks will show the same time, so the grace period applies to the beginning and end of the parking period (to account for people who leave their cars too early).
lol...now I'm confused. You were double parked on the legal side of the street but they gave you a ticket for being parked on the alternate side? Or was the ticket for being double parked?
I have a question. I received a ticket for not moving my car before the alternate side period ended at 10:30. The rules are from 9 to 10:30 and the ticket was given to me at 10:31. I had left my house like at 10:20 but due to construction and other nuisances I couldn't make it in time. However, I stumbled upon this little gem
In addition, the idiot put the correct address ( East 173rd street) but the wrong precinct (put the 48th precinct, when it's clearly the 42nd precinct). So I have grounds to fight it? Especially because of the grace period? No?
And for those dummies that come on here to tell me to pay the ticket, don't bother responding. The punk wasn't doing his job. This is another case of the city bullying people for money. Not on my watch.
I read what you wrote after. So you got a double parking ticket ? Technically you are not suppose to double park even when there is alternate side. It's kind of a courtesy that they let everyone do that.
Ps: the 5 minute grace period is 5 minutes after the start of alternate side and 5 minutes before it ends. So if it's 930 to 11 you can't get a ticket till 935 and you can't get one after 1055.

That's what I was saying. How can he get a ticket after the alternate side rule ended? If he got a ticket for being double parked, that should be exclusive only to being double parked. Should have nothing to do with alternate side.
In your example "you can't get a ticket till 935 and you can't get one after 1055"--do you mean 11:05? They will issue tickets 5 minutes before the alt side rule ends.
Oh okay. Sorry I wasn't being clear. The rules are from 9-10:30. At 8:55 I went down and double parked the car elsewhere (rules were for mon/thurs). I went upstairs and came back down at 10:35 only to find my still double parked car with a ticket for double parking given at 10:31.
My interpretation of the rule was that we get 5 minutes after the time expired to move it back, i.e for me to park it normally. How else would the grace period work?
I mean the double parking ticket is stupid. The reason I double parked was because of the alternate side. You guys get me?
But I'm starting to believe I won't win, unless they either throw it out or reduce it because of the misinformation (wrong precinct), which I'm not sure they do.

Hmm, I see. Meaning that if I'm still parked on that side, I have to move it before 9:35, and if I come down at 10:50, and park back in the same spot, I can't get ticketed after 10:55?
